The series DVDRIP originated during the rise of illegal file sharing, or ‘pirating’ of movies online. In the spirit of Harun Farocki’s ‘operative images’ and aesthetically reminiscent of Glitch Art, DVDRIP is a photographic representation of this phenomena in the form of film stills as photographic prints. The video work was a live recording where I scrubbed through the footage, consciously shifting between certain points in the timeline, and similar to a DJ, creating a new narrative with the existing material.
